We have lived, prayed and worked at Tabgha on the shores of the Sea of Galilee since 1939. Our main task is to take care of the sanctuary of the Multiplication of Loaves and Fishes. The property, together with the Dormition Abbey on Mt. Zion in Jerusalem, belongs to the German Association of the Holy Land.
Former Abbot Nicolas once described Mt. Zion and Tabgha as two pieces of a whole that cannot be separated, in much the same way that the ministry of Jesus in the Galilee and the days of his death and resurrection in Jerusalem cannot be separated. Both places are necessary for the life of our family of monks.
